Fragrance Lake
Fragrance Lake

Located in Larrabee state park near Bellingham, trout fishing is the main draw for anglers to Fragrance lake.  There is trail access across Chuckanut Dr. from the main state parking lot and also off Cleator Rd. Be warned; the trail that starts on Chuckanut drive is very steep and difficult. If your intention is to fish this lake then it is advised to drive up Cleator Rd to a pull out. It is then a short hike down to the lake.

Update: 3/22/11. We have heard reports that the washout in the road has been fixed and that the gate is open again. These reports are from third party sources and we have not confirmed them yet.

Update: 7-31-09. The gate on Cleator Rd. off Hiline road is closed indefinitely due to washed out roads. The upper access area is no longer accessible so the only way to get to this lake is to hike up the main trail from Chuckanut Drive.

I have caught plenty of small Rainbows and heard reports of people catching 14-16” rainbows as well. There are a few spots available for shore fishing but it is best to pack in a raft or float tube to fish this lake efficiently.
