Anglers are anxiously waiting for the salmon opening in Area 7 on Friday, July 1. There are significant positives to look forward to this year. Although the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife predicts Chinook totals to resemble 2010, it does predict that over 300,000 more Coho will enter Puget Sound this year. Also, this is a Pink salmon “Humpy” return year and nearly 6,000,000 Pinks will be coming back to Puget Sound area rivers not to mention another 18,000,000 returning to the Fraser River.
